The Moda Island brings brushless motor technology to a price most island hoods can't match. A+ rated, 780m³/hr, up to 85% energy saving at low speed, up to 3dB(A) quieter than conventional motors. 40mm ultra-slim body. Dynamic tunable LED lighting from 2950K to 6500K. Black or Stainless Steel.
Moda Island Cooker Hood — Brushless Motor Technology. Ultra-Slim Profile.
Island cooker hoods with brushless motors tend to cost significantly more than island hoods with conventional motors. The energy savings are real — up to 85% lower power consumption at low speed, up to 3dB(A) quieter — but the price premium can be substantial. The Moda Island changes that equation. It brings A+ rated brushless motor technology, 780m³/hr of extraction, a 40mm ultra-slim body, and discrete levels of tunable LED lighting to a price point that most brushless island extractors don't come close to.
For buyers who've been researching island hoods, reading about brushless motors, and deciding they want the efficiency and quieter operation — but who don't want to pay premium prices for it — the Moda Island is where that research ends.
A+ brushless motor — what it saves and why it's quieter
The brushless motor in the Moda Island has no contact friction between motor components, which produces two measurable benefits over a conventional motor. First, energy: at low extraction speed, energy consumption drops by up to 85% compared to a standard motor. At full speed the saving is still significant — the A+ rating reflects performance across the full speed range, not just at ideal conditions. Second, noise: with no mechanical friction, the motor runs up to 3dB(A) quieter at any given extraction speed. In an open-plan kitchen-diner where the hood is running during conversation, that quieter operation matters. The motor also lasts longer — fewer moving parts under friction means less wear over years of daily use.
40mm ultra-slim body
The Moda's 40mm body profile is the slimmest of any island hood in the Luxair range. For kitchens with lower than average ceiling heights, more compact island formats, or interiors where visual lightness matters — where a bulkier hood would feel heavy above the cooking surface — the 40mm profile sits proportionately. The telescopic chimney adjusts to accommodate different ceiling heights, and the touch controls are backlit and electronic, with an optional LED backlight toggle for those who prefer a darker aesthetic when the hood is inactive.
Dynamic tunable LED — 2950K to 6500K, step by step
The Moda Island's four 4W LED strips are adjustable across ten discrete Kelvin steps from 2950K (warm, amber candlelight) to 6500K (cool, clear daylight). That's the most granular LED control of any island hood in the Luxair range. In practice it means the Moda's lighting can be matched precisely to existing kitchen downlights, adjusted for time of day, or shifted for different cooking tasks — all from the touch panel.
3 speeds + boost + timer — everything a daily-use island hood needs
Three fan speeds cover background extraction through to full-power ventilation. The boost mode delivers maximum airflow for heavy cooking sessions. The timer function turns the motor off automatically after a set period — useful when you step away from the kitchen mid-session and don't want the extractor running unnecessarily. Ducted externally for best performance, or recirculated via charcoal filters where external ducting isn't possible. Washable metal grease filters included as standard.
