The Arcus 78cm is the new serigraphy design venting hob — 800m³/hr brushless motor extracts at source from all four zones. No overhead hood required. Wider 78cm format for island and open-plan kitchens. Ducted or recirculating. Standard 900mm base unit installation.
Arcus 78cm Venting Induction Hob — New Serigraphy Design. No Hood. 800m³/hr Brushless at Source.
The Arcus 78cm is the current-generation venting induction hob in the Arcus range — an 800m³/hr brushless motor built into a wider 78cm body with an updated serigraphy design on the hob surface. The extraction works the same way as across the range: drawing steam, grease, and cooking odours downwards at the hob surface from all four zones simultaneously, before they rise into the kitchen. No overhead hood. No chimney. No wall fixture. Just a hob.
The 78cm format is particularly suited to island and peninsula installations — the lifestyle images show it set into grey marble worktops in open-plan kitchen-diners and neutral Shaker island kitchens, where the absence of any overhead extraction is the whole point. A wider cooking surface above a base unit, with full-width extraction built in, is the proposition that an island cooker hood can only approximate from above.
New serigraphy design — what's changed
The serigraphy is the printed graphic design on the black glass surface — the zone markers, control indicators, and hob graphics that define the visual character of the cooking surface. The 78cm introduces an updated serigraphy layout compared to earlier Arcus models, giving the hob surface a more refined and contemporary appearance while the extraction specification remains consistent at 800m³/hr brushless. If you're comparing the 78cm to the 75cm, this is the primary visual difference alongside the 3cm additional width.
Why 78cm — and who it's for
78cm is an unusual width in the venting hob market, where most products come in 60cm, 75cm, or 80cm. Buyers whose worktop layout gives them space for more than 75cm but not a full 80cm cut-out, or who want a slightly larger cooking surface without stepping to the 83cm format, will find the 78cm fills a gap that standard sizes don't. Four induction zones with simultaneous extraction from all four. Independent hob and extractor controls — use one without the other, or run extraction after the hob is off. Auto-timer powers the motor down automatically after cooking. Compatible with pans up to 220mm tall. Installs into a standard 900mm wide × 600mm deep base unit requiring no structural modifications beyond what a standard hob installation needs to support the size chosen. Ducted via the 220mm × 90mm outlet (converts to 150mm round) or recirculated with charcoal carbon filters.
