The Luxair flat glass wall mounted cooker hood does something most extractors don't — it makes itself part of the kitchen rather than just an appliance hanging above the hob. Its defining feature is an 8mm flat glass canopy that projects clean, horizontal lines across the hood's face, adding a layer of architectural detail that pure stainless steel hoods simply can't match. Available in 60cm, 70cm, and 90cm widths in either black or stainless steel, it's a hood that works hard and looks considered while doing it.

Which kitchen styles does it suit?

The flat glass profile sits at the intersection of modern and transitional design — versatile enough to work across a surprisingly wide range of kitchens. In stainless steel it complements handleless contemporary kitchens, white gloss cabinetry, metro-tiled walls, and open-plan spaces where the kitchen is on show from the living area. In matt black it anchors darker, moodier schemes — think charcoal grey shakers, navy blue cabinetry with brass hardware, exposed brickwork, or industrial-style kitchens with black fittings throughout. The straight symmetrical lines also suit transitional kitchens that blend classic and modern — a painted wooden kitchen with integrated appliances, for example, or a Shaker kitchen that's been updated with a more contemporary worktop and splashback. If your kitchen is clean-lined, considered, and designed rather than simply furnished, the flat glass hood belongs in it.

Performance & extraction

Behind the glass sits a 550m³/hr motor — comfortably powerful for medium-sized kitchens, easily handling the full range of everyday cooking from background simmering to full-heat frying. Steam, smoke, and cooking odours are drawn up and out before they reach the rest of your home. The telescopic chimney adjusts to suit different ceiling heights, making installation straightforward whether you're working with standard or higher ceilings.

Controls & lighting

Blue backlit electronic touch controls manage fan speed and lighting with a clean, modern feel that matches the hood's aesthetic — no clunky push buttons to interrupt the lines of the glass. Two 1.3W LED lights (2.6W total) illuminate your hob and workspace efficiently, providing clear, even light for prep and cooking without the heat or running cost of older halogen fittings.

Build quality & filtration

The body is constructed from 18/10 grade stainless steel with polished welded joints — the same quality of steel used in professional kitchens. Dishwasher-safe aluminium grease filters sit beneath the canopy, trapping airborne grease and maintaining optimal airflow through the motor. They're straightforward to remove and clean, keeping maintenance minimal.

Installation & ventilation

The flat glass wall hood is designed for ducted extraction via 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") round ducting. For kitchens without an external duct route — flats, converted properties, or rented homes — it runs in recirculation mode with compatible square charcoal filters (Number 2, sold separately). The adjustable telescopic chimney accommodates a range of ceiling heights, reducing the need for custom fittings during installation.

Frequently asked questions

What makes the flat glass design different from a standard chimney hood?
The 8mm flat glass canopy adds a horizontal visual element that gives the hood a more architectural, designed appearance compared to a plain stainless steel chimney. It catches light differently and adds depth to the hood's profile — making it a feature in the kitchen rather than purely a functional appliance.

Which finish should I choose — black or stainless steel?
Stainless steel suits lighter kitchens, contemporary handleless designs, and spaces with chrome or brushed metal fittings. Matt black suits darker cabinets, industrial-style kitchens, and any scheme where black appliances and hardware are part of the design. Both finishes work equally well with the flat glass canopy.

What size do I need?
As a rule, your hood should be at least as wide as your hob. For a standard 60cm hob, the 60cm or 70cm is ideal. For a wider hob or range cooker up to 90cm, choose the 90cm for full coverage across the cooking zone.

Can this be used without external ducting?
Yes. The flat glass wall hood supports recirculation mode with compatible square charcoal filters (Number 2, sold separately). This is suitable for flats, rented properties, and kitchens without access to an external wall.

What ducting does it use?
125mm (5") or 150mm (6") round ducting. We recommend 150mm for optimal extraction performance.

Home Visit & Installation Advice
Confused? Unsure? Let Us Help You Choose A Kitchen Extractor

Luxair Cooker Hoods now offer a site visit by one of our qualified in-house engineers, where they will advise on the best option regarding what cooker hood suits your kitchen needs, they can also advise on the best way to run your ducting or if re-circulation may be best for your setup.

An installation service is also available upon request and completion of a Site or home Survey. Prices will vary dependent on installation required and will be quoted once an engineer has made his visit and all necessary observations are made in relation to your cooker hood installation.

What you need to know:

Another important reason to consider a site survey is to identify the most suitable cooker hood for the location of your kitchen or bathroom.

We will look at the very best option, taking into consideration the size of your kitchen, if the ceiling construction is suitable for a ceiling cooker hood, any potential regulation requirements and above all the correct motor size and ducting route to give you the optimum extraction you require.

Your Site Survey:

During a site survey, your Luxair engineer will discuss your requirements, taking into consideration the appropriate extraction output for the room, the relevant location within the kitchen and the most suitable ducting system for your cooker hood. If the installation is new, the site survey will identify the requirements for the ducting system, ventilation and clearances to any combustible materials to maintain safe use. The site survey will allow your Luxair engineer to provide you with the best advice, consequently avoiding any unexpected expense.

Please Note: All site surveys will be booked in directly with the engineers, who will contact you within 1 - 7 working days of your payment being processed. Our engineers will call you to arrange a date and time that is convenient to you. Book Here
