Luxair Ceiling Hood Long-Life Matt Filter — Number 13
If your Luxair ceiling cooker hood runs in recirculation mode, this is a fundamentally different type of charcoal filter from standard granular carbon replacements. The Number 13 is a long-life washable matt filter designed to be cleaned and reused — lasting up to 3 years with correct maintenance, rather than being replaced every 3–4 months. One purchase covers you for years rather than months.
Compatible hoods include:
- Soffitto Ceiling Cooker Hood
- Skyline Ceiling Cooker Hood
- Celux Ceiling Cooker Hood
- Mille Ceiling Cooker Hood
This filter may also fit ceiling cooker hoods from other manufacturers where the physical dimensions match — however compatibility cannot be guaranteed. Please check the precise measurements against your existing filter before ordering.

Filter only or with metal cage housing — which do you need?
This filter is available in two options — select from the dropdown above:
Filter only — the washable matt filter panel on its own. Choose this if your ceiling hood already has the metal cage housing fitted inside it from your previous filter installation.
Filter + Metal Cage Housing — the filter panel and the metal cage that holds it in position behind the grease filters. Choose this option if you are fitting a long-life filter for the first time, if your cage housing is damaged, or if you are unsure whether your hood has one fitted.
Washable and reusable — how it works
Unlike standard granular carbon charcoal filters which are discarded once saturated, the Number 13 matt filter uses regenerated washable panels that can be cleaned and reinstated to full performance. The round flat filter installs easily behind the metal grease filters or inside the metal cage housing.
Clean the filter every 4–6 months — or every 3 months if you cook heavily — and it will continue performing effectively for up to 3 years and up to 5 wash cycles in total. To clean: either wash by hand using warm soapy water, or place flat in the dishwasher on a low-temperature cycle. After washing, allow to air dry vertically at room temperature before refitting. Do not use heat to speed drying.
Why choose the long-life filter over standard replacements
The Number 13 is the more sustainable and cost-effective choice for ceiling hood owners who want to reduce ongoing maintenance costs and filter waste. Rather than purchasing replacement packs every 3–4 months, a single filter provides up to 3 years of filtration with straightforward periodic washing. It is also the environmentally preferable option — manufactured with regenerated and washable panels to minimise waste.
How to install
A short installation video is available on this page — watch it before fitting for a clear visual walkthrough. As a general guide: switch the hood off, remove the metal grease filters, fit the Number 13 filter into the cage housing (or directly behind the grease filters if no cage), and refit the grease filters.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my ceiling hood uses recirculation mode?
If your ceiling hood vents air through a duct to an outside wall or ceiling vent, it is ducted and does not require charcoal filters. If it has no external duct and returns filtered air back into the kitchen, it is recirculating and requires charcoal filters. Check your manual or look for a charcoal filter housing inside the hood behind the grease filters.
Do I need the cage housing with my filter?
If you are fitting a long-life filter for the first time, or if your existing cage is damaged, select the filter with cage housing option. If you already have the metal cage in place from a previous installation, the filter-only option is all you need.
Can I wash this filter in the dishwasher?
Yes — place the filter flat in the dishwasher on a low-temperature cycle. Alternatively, wash by hand in warm soapy water. After washing, allow to air dry vertically at room temperature before refitting. Do not use heat to speed up drying.
How many times can I wash the Number 13 filter?
Up to 5 wash cycles over the filter's lifespan of up to 3 years. After 5 washes, the filter should be replaced — performance will diminish beyond this point regardless of how it looks.
Is this a genuine Luxair filter?
Yes. This is a genuine Luxair replacement filter, manufactured to fit and perform correctly in compatible Luxair ceiling cooker hoods.
What happens if I don't clean or replace the filter?
A clogged or fully saturated filter restricts airflow through the hood, reducing extraction performance and making the motor work harder. Regular cleaning maintains performance and protects motor lifespan.
