The Luxair 180cm twin motor downdraft cooker hood is the most powerful pop-up extractor in the Luxair range — built specifically for kitchen islands with dual hob configurations, wide single cooking surfaces, or multi-zone domino hob setups that a standard 90cm downdraft simply cannot cover. Finished in matt black, it rises from your worktop to a full 500mm height, houses two independent brushless motors delivering a combined 1380 m³/hr extraction rate, and sits just 90mm deep inside your base unit — the slimmest body of any 180cm downdraft extractor available in the UK.
1380 m³/hr — Two Motors, One Seamless Extraction System
Each motor in the Luxair 180cm downdraft delivers 750 m³/hr independently, and together they produce a combined 1380 m³/hr of continuous extraction across the full 180cm panel. The dual motor design ensures extraction pressure is maintained evenly along the entire length of the filtration area — not concentrated at one end. Whether you're cooking on a 90cm induction hob at one end and a gas burner at the other, or running four domino hob zones simultaneously, both motors work in tandem to draw steam and odours downward before they rise into the room.
Built for Every Dual Hob Configuration
The 180cm width is specifically engineered for kitchens where cooking ambition outgrows a single hob. Compatible configurations include two 90cm hobs side by side, a 90cm induction hob paired with a 60cm induction or gas hob, a full run of domino hobs across 180cm of worktop, or any combination of modular cooking zones that adds up to 180cm. If you're designing a kitchen around serious multi-course, multi-zone cooking — this is the extraction infrastructure it requires.
500mm Rise — The Height That Changes Everything
Like its 90cm sibling, the Luxair 180cm downdraft rises to a full 500mm above the worktop — significantly taller than the 300–350mm rise offered by most competing downdraft models. That extra height means the extraction panel reaches closer to where steam and vapour actually form, particularly when using large pots, woks, stockpots, and high-sided cookware across multiple zones simultaneously. The unit auto-stops at 200mm as a safety position, but can be raised manually to any height up to the full 500mm. For gas hob use, the unit must always be operated at the full 500mm rise height to prevent heat damage to the LED lighting and internal components.
Only 90mm Deep — Maximum Cabinet Space Preserved
At just 90mm deep, the Luxair 180cm downdraft is the slimmest unit of its type available — leaving significantly more usable space in your base unit cabinets than comparable models. For kitchen islands where under-counter storage is as important as the cooking surface above, that slim profile is a genuine practical advantage. The unit installs flush with the worktop surface when retracted, presenting a completely uninterrupted island top when not in use.
Touch Controls, LED Lighting & Optional Remote
The touch control panel manages both motors and all lighting from a single interface — responsive, easy to clean, and designed to match the matt black finish of the unit. LED lighting illuminates the full width of the cooking surface, providing even task lighting across all hob zones. An optional remote control is available, particularly useful for large islands where reaching the control panel mid-cook isn't always convenient. Gas hob users must always operate the unit at maximum 500mm rise height — lower heights expose the LED array to heat levels that will cause damage.
Ducted or Recirculating — Island or Wall-Side
The 180cm twin motor downdraft supports ducted extraction routed through underfloor ducting to an external wall, or recirculating installation using Luxair's optional ceramic plinth filter kit (sold separately) for islands where floor ducting is not feasible. Given the combined 1380 m³/hr output, Luxair strongly recommends 200mm (8") ducting for optimal unrestricted performance — undersized ducting will significantly reduce extraction efficiency at this motor rating. Luxair's home survey engineers can plan the ducting route for your specific island layout before purchase.
Important installation note: Do not pre-cut your worktop before the unit arrives. If you are having custom worktops manufactured, your kitchen fitter must verify all cutout dimensions directly with Luxair before cutting — dimensions are subject to update and Luxair cannot accept liability for errors resulting from pre-cut measurements taken before delivery. Backed by Luxair's 7-year parts and labour warranty (subject to registration within 31 days)
