220mm × 90mm Flat Ducting — Vertical 45° Elbow
This elbow connects two 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting sections at a vertical 45° angle, routing the duct run through a gentle direction change without restricting airflow. It is part of the Luxair System150 6" push-fit airtight ducting range.
45° vs 90° — When to Use Each
Where the installation allows, a 45° elbow is preferable to a 90° elbow — the gentler angle creates less turbulence and back-pressure in the airflow, maintaining better extraction efficiency through the bend. Use a 45° elbow where the duct run changes direction gradually, and a 90° elbow only where a sharp right-angle turn is unavoidable. Two 45° elbows can also be combined to achieve a 90° change in direction with significantly less airflow resistance than a single 90° elbow.
Where This Component Is Used
Use this elbow where a flat rectangular duct run needs to change direction vertically at a 45° angle — typically where a duct run drops down from a ceiling void at an angle, transitions over an obstacle, or where a gradual vertical direction change is needed within a run above kitchen units or within a bulkhead.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting
The System150 6" Ducting Range
This component is part of the Luxair System150 range — combining 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting and 150mm round ducting, both carrying equivalent airflow rates and fully interchangeable within the system. All components connect by push-fit for a patent-protected airtight seal with no ducting tape, adhesive, or clips required. The full range includes straight pipe sections, bends, elbows, connectors, adapters, and wall vents to complete any standard extraction installation.
