Luxair Nuvola Stratos Ceiling Hood Filter — Number 16

If you have the Luxair Nuvola Stratos ceiling cooker hood the Number 16 is the replacement filter designed specifically for it. This is the only filter in the Luxair range offered in two fundamentally different filter materials: a washable charcoal (active carbon) filter and a premium ceramic filter that can be regenerated in a domestic oven. Select your preferred option from the dropdown above.

Compatible hoods:

  • Nuvola Stratos Recirculating Ceiling Cooker Hood

If you're unsure whether this is the correct filter for your hood, use the contact form on this page — our UK-based support team will confirm for you.

Which do you need?

Select from the dropdown above:

Charcoal filter only — the washable active carbon filter panel on its own. Choose this if your hood already has the cage housing fitted from a previous installation.

Ceramic filter (cage included) — the premium long-life ceramic filter with cage housing. The ceramic filter lasts up to 16× longer than the standard charcoal filter and is regenerated in the oven rather than replaced. Choose this for the lowest long-term cost and the most sustainable filtration option.

Charcoal (active carbon) filter — how it works

The washable charcoal filter captures grease particles and neutralises cooking odours using activated carbon — absorbing and trapping odour molecules as air passes through before being returned to the kitchen. Replace every 3–6 months based on typical use of 2–3 hours per day. If you cook frequently or with strong-smelling ingredients, replacing closer to the 3-month mark maintains performance at its best. Clean by hand using warm soapy water or in the dishwasher on a low-temperature cycle. Allow to air dry vertically at room temperature before refitting.

Ceramic filter — the premium long-life upgrade

The ceramic filter achieves the same 85–90% odour reduction as the charcoal filter but lasts up to 16 times longer — making it significantly more cost-effective over time and the most environmentally sustainable choice. Rather than washing and eventually discarding a charcoal filter, the ceramic filter is regenerated in a domestic oven to restore its full odour-absorbing capacity.

Ceramic filter regeneration instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 150°C–180°C
  2. Place the filter upright in the oven — do not lay it flat
  3. Heat for 1–2 hours
  4. Allow to cool completely before reinstalling

The ceramic filter can be regenerated multiple times across its lifespan. The cage housing is included with the ceramic filter option.

How to install

As a general guide: switch the hood off, remove the metal grease filters, locate the filter housing, insert the filter (and cage if applicable), and refit the grease filters.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my Nuvola Stratos hood uses recirculation mode?
The Nuvola Stratos are recirculation-only ceiling hoods — they do not support external ducting. They always operate in recirculation mode and always require a charcoal or ceramic filter when in use.

What is the difference between the charcoal and ceramic filter options?
Both achieve 85–90% odour reduction. The charcoal filter is a washable active carbon panel replaced every 3–6 months. The ceramic filter lasts up to 16× longer and is regenerated by heating in a domestic oven at 150–180°C for 1–2 hours rather than being washed or replaced on a regular schedule. The ceramic filter is the higher upfront investment but the lower long-term cost.

Can the ceramic filter be washed in the dishwasher?
No. The ceramic filter is regenerated in an oven — not washed. Follow the oven regeneration instructions above. The charcoal filter option is the dishwasher-safe alternative.

Do I need the cage housing?
If you are fitting a Number 16 filter for the first time, or if your existing cage is damaged, select a filter option that includes the cage. If you already have the metal cage housing fitted from a previous installation, the filter-only option is all you need.

What happens if I don't replace or regenerate the filter?
A saturated or clogged filter stops absorbing odours effectively and restricts airflow through the hood, reducing extraction performance. Cooking smells will return to the kitchen and the motor may have to work harder. Regular maintenance — either washing the charcoal filter or regenerating the ceramic filter — maintains performance and protects motor lifespan.

Does the subscription auto-renew?
Yes — the subscription renews automatically. You can skip, pause, or cancel at any time. Full details are in our subscription policy.
