Luxair Round Charcoal Filter — Number 4

The Round Charcoal Filter Number 4 is the correct replacement filter for older Luxair LA-604 cooker hoods manufactured before 2011. Each pack contains 2 filters at £19.00 — or subscribe and never run out.

⚠️ Important compatibility notice — please read before ordering

The Luxair LA-604 motor design was updated in 2011. The Round Charcoal Filter Number 4 is specifically designed for pre-2011 LA-604 models only. If your LA-604 was manufactured in 2011 or later, this filter will not be the correct fit. If you're unsure which version of the LA-604 you have, check the serial label inside your hood — remove the metal grease filters and look for the manufacture date on the silver or white sticker on the inner body. If the date shown is before 2011, Number 4 is correct. If you're still unsure, contact our UK-based support team with your serial number and we'll confirm the right filter for you.

Why charcoal filters matter

When your hood runs in recirculation mode, air drawn up from the hob passes through the metal grease filters first, then through the charcoal filter, before being returned clean to the kitchen. The Round Number 4 uses high-quality granular active carbon that delivers 85–90% odour reduction — absorbing cooking smells from garlic, fish, spices, and frying before they spread through your home. A fresh filter keeps your kitchen smelling clean. A saturated filter stops absorbing, odours return, and airflow through the motor becomes restricted — increasing wear over time.

Keyhole twist-on fitting

The Number 4 installs via a simple keyhole twist-on fitting — no tools, no clips, no complicated alignment. Align the filter with the keyhole mounts inside the hood, push, and twist to lock. Removal is the same process in reverse. The whole change takes under two minutes once you're familiar with the process.

When to replace

Replace every 3 to 4 months under normal cooking use, or every 50 hours of cooking — whichever comes first. If you cook frequently or with strong ingredients, leaning toward the 3-month schedule keeps filtration at its most effective. Signs your filter needs replacing: cooking odours returning to the kitchen during or after use, reduced airflow, or a stale smell when the hood is running.

Subscribe and never run out

The easiest way to stay on top of filter changes is to subscribe. You'll receive a full year's supply delivered automatically, timed to arrive before you need them — no remembering to reorder, no running out mid-cook. Subscribing saves you money compared to buying individually, and you can skip, pause, or cancel at any time with no lock-in. Full subscription details and savings are shown at checkout.

How to replace the filter

Remove the metal grease filters from inside the hood. Twist the old Number 4 filter anti-clockwise to release from the keyhole mounts and remove. Align the new filter with the keyhole slots, push into place, and twist clockwise to lock. Refit the grease filters. A step-by-step video guide is available on this page — watch it before your first change for a clear visual walkthrough.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my LA-604 is pre-2011 or post-2011?
Remove the metal grease filters from inside your hood. On the inner underside of the main body you'll find a silver or white label showing either a manufacture date, an S/N number, or a LOTTO number. If the manufacture date shown is before 2011, the Number 4 is the correct filter. If you can't find the date or are still unsure, contact our support team with your serial number and we'll identify the correct filter for your specific model.

This is a round filter — how is it different from the square filters?
Luxair produces both square and round charcoal filters depending on the hood model. Square filters (Numbers 2, 3, and 7) fit into a rectangular housing and slide in and out. Round filters like the Number 4 use a keyhole twist-on fitting and are circular in shape. They are not interchangeable — always check the filter number specific to your hood model.

How many filters do I get per pack?
Each pack contains 2 round charcoal filters. Replacing every 3 to 4 months means you'll use 3 to 4 packs per year. The annual subscription delivers 4 packs (8 filters) — enough for quarterly replacement throughout the year.

Can I wash and reuse the filter?
No. Charcoal filters cannot be washed or regenerated — the granular active carbon is spent once saturated and must be replaced. Washing does not restore filtration performance.

What happens if I don't replace it on schedule?
Cooking odours return to the kitchen, airflow reduces, and the motor works harder against restricted flow — increasing wear and shortening its working life. Regular replacement at £19 per pack is the most cost-effective way to protect your hood long term.

Is this a genuine Luxair filter?
Yes. This is a genuine Luxair replacement charcoal filter manufactured to the correct specification for compatible pre-2011 LA-604 models. Third-party filters may not fit correctly via the keyhole mounts or provide equivalent filtration performance.
