Important — this remote requires pairing
This fob does not connect automatically. It must be paired before use. The pairing process for this remote involves a 60-second time window — read all five steps carefully before you begin and have the remote in hand and ready before you start:
- Turn the power off at the mains
- While the power is off, press and hold any button on the remote — keep holding it down throughout the next step
- While still holding the button down, turn the power back on at the mains — continue holding the button for at least 10 seconds after the power comes back on
- After 10 seconds have elapsed, release the button, then press any button on the remote once more
- The entire process from step 3 must be completed within 60 seconds of turning the power back on
The appliance should now respond to the remote. If pairing is unsuccessful on the first attempt, repeat from step 1. The most common cause of failure is releasing the button too early in step 3 or taking longer than 60 seconds to complete step 4. - Fan speed — cycle through all available extraction speeds

The pairing process seems complex — what's the most important thing to get right?
Two things matter most. First, keep the button held down continuously from step 2 through to the 10-second hold in step 3 — releasing early breaks the pairing sequence and you'll need to start again. Second, complete the full process within 60 seconds of turning the power back on. Having the remote in hand before you switch the power on removes any time pressure. If you miss the window, simply start from step 1 again.
My remote has stopped working — what should I try first?
Before ordering a replacement, try these steps. Replace the battery — most Luxair fobs use a standard CR2032 coin cell battery, available from any supermarket or hardware store. Check there's a clear line of sight between the remote and the sensor on the appliance. Try re-pairing using the 5-step process above — a power cut or surge can reset the pairing. What if I don't know my serial number?
For a cooker hood, remove the metal grease filters — the serial label is on the inner underside of the main body. For a bathroom fan, check the inner casing behind the front grille.
