The Luxair 100mm round to flat 150mm x 70mm vertical 90° ducting elbow
...transitions a 100mm (4") round ducting outlet upward into a 150mm x 70mm flat rectangular duct at a right angle — the fitting used when your cooker hood has a round outlet and the ducting run needs to exit vertically upward into a cabinet void, ceiling cavity, or wall chase before continuing as flat rectangular duct. Self-sealing push fit on both the round and flat ends.
Vertical vs Horizontal — Which Elbow Do You Need?
This is the question that causes the most wrong purchases in the ducting range, so it's worth being precise. This fitting makes the transition from round to flat with the flat duct exiting upward — used when the ducting run needs to go straight up from the hood outlet into a wall cabinet or ceiling void before running horizontally. If your ducting run needs to transition from round to flat and then travel horizontally along the top of cabinets immediately — without first going upward — you need the 100mm Round to Flat Horizontal Connector instead, which has the flat duct exiting sideways rather than upward. Check which direction your duct exits the adaptor before ordering — the flat duct exit direction is fixed on each fitting.
150mm x 70mm — The Slim Flat Duct Profile
This fitting connects to 150mm x 70mm flat rectangular ducting — the slimmer of the two flat duct sizes in Luxair's range. At 70mm deep, this profile fits into very tight spaces above cabinets, inside wall chases, and in ceiling voids where the larger 220mm x 90mm flat duct profile won't fit. If your installation has restricted vertical space above the cabinets or within the wall void, the 150mm x 70mm system is the right choice. All flat duct lengths, elbows, connectors, and clips in the 150mm x 70mm size are available in Luxair's 100mm ducting collection — make sure every component in your run matches this size, as the two flat duct sizes are not interchangeable.
When This Fitting Is Used in a Typical Installation
The most common installation scenario for this elbow is a canopy or built-in hood recessed inside a kitchen cabinet, where the round outlet exits upward through the top of the cabinet carcass into the void above. The round-to-flat vertical elbow sits at the top of the cabinet, transitions the round outlet into a flat profile, and the flat duct then runs horizontally through the void toward an external wall vent. It's a neat, low-profile solution that keeps all ducting hidden within the cabinet and ceiling structure with no visible pipework anywhere in the kitchen.

Is 100mm the Right Size for Your Hood?
100mm (4") ducting is correct for cooker hood motors rated below 450 m³/hr. For higher-rated motors use larger ducting throughout the entire run:
- Below 450 m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750 m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2000 m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting
