200mm Semi-Rigid Aluminium Flexible Ducting — 3 Metres, For High-Power Cooker Hoods
This is a 3 metre length of 200mm semi-rigid aluminium flexible ducting, designed specifically for high-power cooker hood installations requiring 8" ducting. It can be bent into shape by hand and holds the position it is formed into — suitable for duct runs that require a firm, fixed-shape flexible section in the 200mm format.
200mm Ducting Is Required for High-Power Motors
Cooker hoods with motor ratings between 950m³/hr and 1,350m³/hr must be installed with 200mm (8") ducting to achieve full extraction performance and quiet operation. Reducing to 150mm on these motors is possible but will increase operational noise levels and hood vibration — the restriction forces the motor to work harder to move the same volume of air through a smaller opening. For maximum performance and minimum noise, always use 200mm ducting throughout the installation on any hood rated above 950m³/hr.
When to Use Semi-Rigid vs Rigid Ducting
Semi-rigid flexible hose is the correct choice where rigid 200mm pipe sections cannot be installed due to restricted access, irregular angles, or tight spaces — but where a fully flexible corrugated tube would be too unsupported or loose for the installation. The semi-rigid construction holds the formed shape without additional support, making it particularly useful for short transition sections between rigid duct runs or between the motor outlet and the first rigid duct section. For maximum extraction efficiency, keep the flexible section as short and straight as possible.
Important — Joining and Sealing
This semi-rigid hose does not self-seal at connections. A 200mm collar connector is required to join this hose to 200mm rigid ducting pipe, and ducting tape should be used at all joints to ensure an airtight seal throughout the duct run.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting
