125mm Aluminium Flexible Hose — 1.5 Metres, Fire Retardant
This 125mm aluminium flexible hose is designed to connect directly from the motor unit outlet of a cooker hood to the rigid ducting run above. The 1.5 metre length provides sufficient flexibility to bridge the gap between the motor spigot and the first rigid duct section, accommodating minor misalignments and vibration in the connection.
Fire Retardant — Why This Matters
Aluminium flexible hose is fire retardant and will not melt or shrink when exposed to the high temperatures produced during cooking and extraction. This makes it the only appropriate material for the section of ducting directly connected to the cooker hood motor.
⚠ Never Use Plastic Washer-Dryer Hose on a Cooker Hood
White PVC washer-dryer hose must never be used as cooker hood ducting under any circumstances. PVC hose is not fire retardant — it will melt, shrink, and collapse when exposed to cooking temperatures, creating a serious fire hazard. Despite being the same diameter as some cooker hood outlets, washer-dryer hose is completely unsuitable for extraction use. Always use aluminium flexible hose or rigid ducting throughout a cooker hood installation.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting
The 5" Push-Fit System
This hose is compatible with the Luxair 125mm (5") push-fit airtight ducting range. The full system includes rigid round and flat pipe sections, bends, elbows, adapters, and wall outlets. Use ducting tape or a collar connector at joints where push-fit components are not used to ensure an airtight seal throughout the duct run.
