Luxair Orion Long-Life Matt Filter — Number 14
If your Luxair Orion ceiling cooker hood runs in recirculation mode, the Number 14 is the long-life washable matt filter designed specifically for it. Unlike standard granular carbon charcoal filters which are discarded after 3–4 months, this filter is washable and reusable — lasting up to 3 years with correct maintenance. One purchase covers you for years rather than months.

Filter only or with metal cage housing — which do you need?
This filter is available in two options — select from the dropdown above:
Filter only — the washable matt filter panel on its own. Choose this if your Orion hood already has the metal cage housing fitted inside it from a previous filter installation.
Filter + Metal Cage Housing — the filter panel and the metal cage that holds it in position behind the grease filters. Choose this option if you are fitting a long-life filter for the first time, if your cage housing is damaged, or if you are unsure whether your hood has one fitted.
Washable and reusable — how it works
The Number 14 matt filter uses regenerated washable panels that can be cleaned and reinstated to full performance. The round flat filter installs easily behind the metal grease filters or inside the metal cage housing.
Clean the filter every 4 months — or every 3 months if you cook heavily — and it will continue performing effectively for up to 3 years and up to 5 wash cycles in total. To clean: either wash by hand using warm soapy water, or place flat in the dishwasher on a low-temperature cycle. After washing, allow to air dry vertically at room temperature before refitting. Do not use heat to speed drying.
Why choose the long-life filter over standard replacements
The Number 14 is the more sustainable and cost-effective choice for Orion hood owners. Rather than purchasing replacement packs every 3–4 months, a single filter provides up to 3 years of filtration with straightforward periodic washing — reducing both ongoing costs and filter waste.
How to install
A short installation video is available on this page — watch it before fitting for a clear visual walkthrough. As a general guide: switch the hood off, remove the metal grease filters, fit the Number 14 filter into the cage housing (or directly behind the grease filters if no cage is present), and refit the grease filters.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Number 14 the same as the Number 13 filter?
No. Both are washable long-life matt filters but they are sized differently. The Number 13 fits the Soffitto, Skyline, Celux and Mille ceiling hoods. The Number 14 is sized specifically for the Orion Recirculating Ceiling Hood. Using the wrong filter number may result in an incorrect fit — check your hood model before ordering.
How do I know if my Orion hood uses recirculation mode?
The Orion is a recirculation-only ceiling hood — it does not support external ducting. It always operates in recirculation mode and always requires a charcoal filter when in use.
Can I wash this filter in the dishwasher?
Yes — place the filter flat in the dishwasher on a low-temperature cycle. Alternatively, wash by hand in warm soapy water. After washing, allow to air dry vertically at room temperature before refitting. Do not use heat to speed up drying.
How many times can I wash the Number 14 filter?
Up to 5 wash cycles over the filter's lifespan of up to 3 years. After 5 washes, the filter should be replaced — performance will diminish beyond this point regardless of how it looks.
Do I need the cage housing with my filter?
If you are fitting a long-life filter for the first time, or if your existing cage is damaged, select the filter with cage housing option. If you already have the metal cage in place from a previous installation, the filter-only option is all you need.
What happens if I don't clean or replace the filter?
A clogged or fully saturated filter restricts airflow through the hood, reducing extraction performance and making the motor work harder. Regular cleaning on schedule maintains performance and protects motor lifespan.
